Manipur MP Bimol Akoijam slams Modi Government for ignoring state crisis

Newly elected Lok Sabha member from Inner Manipur Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, lashed out at the Modi government over its response to the ongoing violence in the state. In his maiden speech, Akoijam expressed concern that the Manipur issue was not mentioned in the President’s address while highlighting that over 60,000 people are now homeless due to the violence.

He also said "I will keep quiet the moment Prime Minister opens his mouth and the nationalist party says that Manipur is part of India, and say that we care about the people of that state. Only then I will accept what is nationalism in our face."

The house adjourned right after Akoijam’s speech.
