I LOVE the water but I don’t know how to swim & yet that doesn’t stop me from getting in open water (always safely)!

However this year I said I was going to learn how to swim! I learned how to float in Cartagena a couple of years ago & this year I took a few lessons at Equinox, but the game changer was when I put my floating together with my very rudimentary swim lessons in Grenada & I was moving through the water, no life vest! In Grenada the water was like 4.5 feet so I never felt unsafe, plus I had swimmers with me!

However, when I got to Bermuda & took in the deluxe Saltwater pool at the uber chic Azura, I felt safe enough to try my swimming lessons & I did it, I moved across the pool (I hesitate to say swim😉)!

Fast forward to being in Kyjuan's boat with my friends & his family & we anchor in a calm but deep water bay…..I know I’m going to get in the water, I’d gone into the Aegean sea before so I wasn’t unfamiliar with frolicking in deep water w/a lifevest….but this was different!

A lot of eyes on me, people yelling for me to just do it, don’t be afraid, I know they meant well, but it was the opposite vibe to help someone feel calm enough to Go For It - finally I listen to Kyjuan's mom & auntie, they walk me through it, Kiwan puts on my life vest & in I go!

First I have a noodle that’s tethered to the boat but as I get more comfy I ditch the noodle & start moving around this deep water! I’m proud of myself, my progress and my bravery because unfortunately the older you get many people become risk adverse, I refuse to let that be my story!

Bermuda has truly changed my life, on so many levels & I’m so grateful to all my experiences on this beautiful island! Come to #Bermuda & GET YOUR LIFE!
