Описание к видео Respecting Autistic Ways of Playing, Interacting, and Making Friends (ASL Version)

In the first of our #LiberatingWebinars series with Lei Wiley-Mydske and Morenike Giwa Onaiwu of AWN, we explore various ways that autistic people play and relate; connect to research on the differences between Neurotypical and Autistic socialization, and highlight the perspective of Fallon M., an autistic adolescent and co-founder of the Ed Wiley Autism Acceptance Lending Library.

About the Speakers
Morénike Giwa Onaiwu, MA is a global advocate, educator and Autistic woman of color in a neurodiverse, serodifferent family. A prolific writer, public speaker, and social scientist/activist, their work focuses on narrative policy, meaningful community involvement, human rights, justice, and inclusion.

Lei Wiley-Mydske is an autistic and otherwise neurodivergent adult & parent from the Pacific Northwest. Lei is a freelance writer, artist, the Community Outreach Coordinator at AWN Network and co-founder of Ed Wiley Autism Acceptance Library.

Jen Schonger is the Program Manager for the NJACE, as well as wife to her childhood sweetheart and mom to two wonderful daughters. Jen is up to date on novel autism research, and has remained well informed on all things related to Autism for the last 6 years, when she discovered one of her daughters is autistic.
She recently completed a continuing education course through Montclair State University on “Neurobiological Perspectives in Autism”, and is very active in trying to shift the paradigm in Autism from one based on a behavioral model to one that is aligned with the last 20 years of neuroscience and importantly, the lived experiences of Autistic individuals. She strongly believes that responsive adults who prioritize a child’s autonomy and emotional health are the key to supporting our Autistic loved ones.
