Hermann Goellner was a skier that came to the United State from Austria back in the 1960's. He was on the Hart freestyle ski team and appeared at ski shows throughout the country. He was a ski coach at Jackson Hole and then the Stratton Mountain School. Later, in the 1970's Hermann became a coach for the US Ski Team.

Hermann also invented the flexible breakaway gates that helped revolutionize the sport and were called Hermann gates at one time.

Hermann is a passionate rock climber and is considered by many to be one of the top sport climbers in the world of the over 70 crowd.

Hermann recently has a hip replacement operation but as you can tell from his picture, not much is slowing Hermann down.

He was exemplary role model and had a profound influence on many athletes.

Hermann is certainly worth of the US Ski Hall of Fame and hopefully he gets voted in on the 2016 ballot.
