Wednesdays.for.Water.24.07.24.IASC-1.Experiences from Integrated Lake Basin Management

The Wednesdays.for.Water session on, 'Experiences from Integrated Lake Basin Management', part of the Lake-Pond Series, focus is on the concept and approach namely, Integrated Lake Basin Management, ILBM, developed by the International Lake Environment Committee, Shiga, Japan (https://www.ilec.or.jp/en/). Prof dr Nakamura Masahisa is the keynote speaker of the session. Nakamura sansei shares that the ILBM is an approach aligned with the Integrated Water Resource Management focusing on lakes. Many lakes in many countries that are successfully conserved and managed because they consciously or sub-consciously applied the ILBM approach. He puts a stress on moving beyond the athropocene way of looking at lakes and be inclusive of lake ecosystem alias biodiversity. He also stresses that lake conservation is a dynamic process and cannot be boxed in a time frame.

The session is moderated by Dr Mansee Bal Bhargava. The session is co-hosted with the International Association for the Study of the Commons (https://iasc-commons.org/).
