Flapjack - Swamp Lake Breakdown / Paddy When You Die

Описание к видео Flapjack - Swamp Lake Breakdown / Paddy When You Die

From their 2003 album "Happy Slappy's Flapjack Hut".

Swamp Lake Breakdown was previously recorded by well-known Canadian fiddler Don Messer.

According to The Traditional Tune Archive, Swamp Lake is near Neebing in the Thunder Bay region of Ontario. It is also known as "Shull Creek Breakdown" and "Shoal Creek Breakdown".

"Paddy When You Die" was possibly composed by fiddler Jamie Snider, though his unpublished tune collection doesn't seem to indicate that, rather, it was from the repertoire of Canadian fiddler Ambrose [Gannon].

It has also been recorded by TIP Splinter, Arthur O'Brien, Banshee, River Underground, as well as, live recordings of it on YouTube by The Wonderful Grand Band, TIP Splinter, and The Lamey Brothers.

The other recordings of "Paddy When You Die" primarily have it as a song, whereas Flapjack played it as a reel and throw in the lyrics of the chorus from the song during one part of the recording.
