Comparison of a vintage Electro Harmonix Small Clone chorus pedal (1983) and its modern reissue (c.2008). Both pedals contain the MN3007 chip.

Guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Studio loaded with Bare Knuckle Nantucket P90s, through a Hughes & Kettner Puretone combo and recorded with a 57 & sE RNR1 ribbon.

Conclusions: the original has slightly less overall output than the reissue and shelves off much more low end. However, the effect depth is more subtle on the vintage unit - the reissue has a tendency to sound somewhat extreme when the depth switch is up. Both are fantastic however - and if you're a lover of chorus, you of course need both!

And all that without once playing Come As You Are...
