Ingredients:
2 1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 cup (two sticks butter, browned on the stove and cooled (8-10 minute process))
1 and 3/4 cups packed brown sugar
2 large eggs (room temp)
1 and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Caramel sauce for topping if desired
For the apples, peel and chop them into desired small bite sizes, and put them in a pot on the stove at medium heat. Add in about 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon. Stir this for about 4-5 minutes and remove from heat.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and spices. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and browned butter. Then add in your eggs and vanilla extract.
Have your oven now set to 350 F, and combine the wet and dry ingrediants. Then, set in your apple pieces and fold them in gently.
In a pan, I used a metal 9x9, grease the sides and add parchment paper for easy removal after baking.
Dump in the mixture, and drizzle any carame sauce over the top, using a toothpick to marble it in.
Then, bake for about 35 minutes.
Just check with a toothpick once done to see a semi-clean toothpick, doesn’t have to be dry, and let it cool in the pan before digging in.
