The PM of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina recently resigned and fled the country. This was after protestors entered the PM’s official residence in the middle of a military curfew - where they were seen carrying out looted furniture and TVs.

The Bangladesh army has said that an interim government will now take over. Sheikh Hasina and the government of her Awami League political party are at the center of these protests.

Internet is suspended and all the schools and colleges have been shut down - the common man is out on the roads fighting the military forces.

But why are they protesting?

Well, the reason behind their protests is Reservation - Bangladesh has a 56% reservation quota for various groups, including children of freedom fighters, disabled people, and women.

So only 44% of jobs are available for the general public to get on the basis of merit.
