On the final day of Poland's presidency of the EU Council, the 17 sanctions packages imposed so far by the EU on Russia were successfully extended for another six months. And the decision was unanimous.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has cautioned Germany that he may close the border if there are any doubts surrounding migrants returned to Poland. He also went on to lambast a group of Polish citizens who took the matter into their own hands, starting efforts to fend off what they believe is an influx of migrants from Germany.

The Polish army is poised to receive a boost to its capabilities. On Monday, the country's defense minister signed two contracts purchasing defensive and medical equipment for use by air and land forces. This included the purchase of missiles for the Korean produced FA50 fighter jets.
