During the tribal invasion of Kashmir in 1947 by Pakistan, Air Commodore Mehar Singh was put in charge of command and control of air operations in India. He led from the front.

Mehar Singh led a flight of IAF fighter planes across the Himalayas, towering up to 24000 feet without de-icing equipment, cabin pressurization, or route maps.

This is the story of  'Mehar Baba’, Air Commodore Mehar Singh.

He was awarded the second-highest war-time military decoration, the Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) in 1950.
