Discussion Chapter

Описание к видео Discussion Chapter

The work of discussion is, above all, a work of reflection. In this part, you need to discuss your work results and which methodological approach you have used. The discussion needs to have a certain depth that goes through those 4 notions:
• Descriptive: description of your discoveries
• Analytical: results of your analysis
• Interpretive: it represents the interpretation of your results and how to grasp them, in the context of the State of Art, into everyday life, whether it be practical or professional
• Critical: you need to have a critical reflection on the typical result, the methodology, and the leads for the future

It is strongly recommended to structure your discussion section as follows:
0. Restatement of Study Purpose 3:49
1. Findings and Recommendations 9:30
2. Strength and Limitations 17:00
3. Implications on practice and future work 27:52
4. Take away 32:33

0. Restatement of Study Purpose: This chapter should begin with a concise restatement of your study’s purpose along with any relevant and concise background information. When you have formulated hypotheses, you should restate each of your hypotheses. In this chapter, you have to answer your research question(s) using the evidence you presented in the results section.
2. Findings and Recommendations: In this section, you should include the major findings and recommendations for policy OR practice. Be aware that also these recommendations should be based on your research findings.
3. Strength and Limitations: This section should also include an objective discussion on the strength, added value, suitability, validity, importance, etc., of your study and how the work fits into the existing body of knowledge, and how it compares to the Concepts and theoretical framework (mentioned in methodology chapter).
Then it would help if you discussed the limitations and weaknesses of this work. Ake sure to criticize your work but do not demolish it. Some students are so critical that they mention more weaknesses than strengths. This reflects a lack of objective judgment.
4. Implications on practice and future work: The implication paragraph should discuss the potential impact of your study on practice. However, the Future work paragraph is mainly written for future scientists who will follow this work. It would help if you discussed the next scientific actions and milestones that need to be done to make this study complete and conclusive.
