This week’s Up River Fly Fishing Report brings you the latest from the Arkansas River Valley and surrounding waters! We head down to the town run below the Surf Hotel in Buena Vista, Colorado to check out how the recent surf wave reconstruction has impacted fishing conditions.
After nearly three months of river construction, the new surf wave is complete — and we’re happy to report that the fishing has bounced back to normal! 🎣

We found success nymphing with small bead-head patterns under an indicator, but also spotted a few rising fish. This time of year, nymphs and streamers will be your most consistent options. However, dry fly purists should keep an eye out for Blue Wing Olive and midge hatches on cloudy days.
