Zorvec™ 2023 technical guide

Описание к видео Zorvec™ 2023 technical guide

2022 was a very different season from the previous one, with relatively little blight, really only being detected late in the season, providing potato growers in the UK and Ireland with an easier ride than in 2021 with a significantly reduced late blight challenge. Looking outside the UK, the primary concern going forward has been the appearance of a stain of late blight (43_A1), which shows resistance to CAA fungicides (FRAG Group 40), found predominantly in Denmark, though now detected beyond Denmark’s borders in Europe. While NO examples of 43_A1 have been detected in the UK, concern to maintain the efficacy of CAAs is high. Utilising fungicides with an alternative mode of action in alternation with CAAs and in mixture with products from this group with a single active ingredient makes good sense in striving to maintain the efficacy of CAAs in UK blight programmes. Option® containing cymoxanil, would be a suitable mixture candidate, as it provides both curative and preventative activity against late blight, though users should be aware of its relatively short persistence in the plant (2-3 days).

Using Zorvec® Endavia early in the programme in the rapid growth phase of the crop makes ever greater sense, given that Zorvec is unique in Group 49, with no shift in sensitivity within the Late Blight population detected to date. Delivering unsurpassed control of late blight will provide growers with the cleanest possible start to their programme. By using 2 applications at rapid growth followed by 1-2 applications during the stable canopy phase of the crop, enables growers to use as many of the chemical groups available across their blight programme and minimise the risk of selecting for resistant strains of P.infestans.

Looking ahead to 2023, the evolving UK blight population means farmers and agronomists need to consider carefully how best to effectively deploy the tools at their disposal to achieve season long late blight control. In this video, Craig Chisholm, Field Technical Manager at Corteva Agriscience, reviews the most recent data surrounding blight strains, the weather patterns we saw in 2022 and, based on trials results, how best to use Corteva’s leading late blight fungicide, Zorvec Endavia®, to its greatest effect. Craig advises that growers should aim to get the cleanest possible start to the crop by deploying two Zorvec Endavia sprays at the rapid growth phase, leaving two further sprays available for the stable canopy stage.
