KFXM’s Bobby Blue emceed many concerts at the Swing Auditorium. As he explained in this video every concert would consist of 3 groups. The first group would be a local group. The second act would be a act that was contractually required to play before the headline group (Who was the 3rd act.)
There was a lot of competition for the opening act among local bands. 2 of the crowd favorites were groups named Ballin’ Jack and Redbone.
This story is about a Fontana group who, according to Bobby, “weren’t ready to open yet” The groups name was Justice Brothers (which in the 60’s was also the name of a popular motor oil additive)
On a side note, one of the members of Justice brothers was Nikki Syxx, who later opened a nightclub in Downtown Riverside that was called The Squeeze.
Another member named Sam was the one that asked Bobby and got the rejection.
20 years later Sam bumped into Bobby at a concert The Forum and Sam reminded Bobby of the conversation from 20 years earlier. Sam was not the opening act that night either. He was the headliner.
