Before I dive into the spiritual implications of this trait, I would like to acknowledge that I understand that there are physical factors at play in the development of this condition. BUT I find it interesting that when you look up the cause of cleft lip online, in most cases, the cause is unknown. That’s where I want to dive into the spiritual.

Those born with a cleft lip enter into this world with what appears to be a theme of struggle or suffering. The latch becomes a hardship. Looking at this from a past life perspective, I see this as a soul who perhaps has had to struggle to elevate their soul. The body that they chose is only exemplifying the theme of overcoming obstacles.

I do know mamas that have fiercely protected their right to breast-feed their babies with this condition successfully. I look at cases like this as a massive soul elevation…That child chose the warrior mama to overcome. To fight. To win.

Looking at this from a physical standpoint, relating to Chinese philosophy, the microcosmic orbit is an energy orbit that runs along the main “highway” meridian system of our bodies. The back channel begins at the perineum, running up the spine (yang) to the top of the head and continuing down the front of the face, over the nose and stops below nose at the indentation above the lip. The front channel continues from the lip (sealing the tongue to the roof of the roof completes this orbit) down the throat neck, chest and down the front of the body.

So how does this connect to cleft lip? Whatever the mother is feeling and experiencing, the baby will replicate in its body. These are just my thoughts so don’t crucify me yet. But I wonder if when the mother’s energy is blocked within her body or if she is undergoing some severe stress within her system if the babies physical body isn’t completed because the energy body is so heavily affected.
