This will be a playthrough of the battles in the Low Countries, the invasion of the Netherlands and Belgium in May 1940. I tried to keep the focus on speed as much as possible. So expect suboptimal decisions now and then..

Eben-Emael briefing:
Welcome back to active duty, Herr General. Your new assignment will be to take the war to our old enemy France, who has dared to declare war upon us as of last September! As you command your forces from the front, I, Generalfeldmarschall Habermann, will keep you informed of your objectives and share intelligence with you as it becomes available during these briefings.

Your first assignment comes straight from the top; a special operation to seize control of Eben-Emael. This fortress is believed to be immune to traditional assaults, so we have set up a secret airborne operation aimed at taking Eben-Emael by surprise!

The majority of your forces will be deployed on the east bank of the Meuse River, but several of your units will be dropped directly on top of the Belgian fort complex. Choose these advance units wisely as the element of surprise will not last long, and you will want to inflict maximum damage before the defenders come to their senses and react. To this end, we highly recommend Pioniere and Fallschirmjager units to lead the initial assault.

As a warning, you should be aware that advance reconnaissance units have detected significant fortifications along all other crossing of the Meuse River, and you are advised to bypass these strong points by focusing your efforts on Eben-Emael.

Once you have captured Eben-Emael, you must break though the Belgian and Dutch lines to secure the rest of your objectives, including Liege and Maastricht, which should be vulnerable to attack from the rear.

Good luck, Herr General, but be warned, failure here is not an option!
