The head of liberal Russian radio station Ekho Moskvy has vowed to keep working, despite the organisation being disbanded by its board of directors amid a Kremlin crackdown. Its editor-in-chief, Alexei Venediktov, said journalists will keep working and that they plan to challenge the decision to disband. This, as Russia clamps down on independent media outlets as its invasion of Ukraine continues. Other outlets are facing a similar fate. The country’s parliament is also considering a bill that could punish the publishing of “fake news” about its war with Ukraine with up to 15 years in prison.
