Travel Documentary about Delhi & Uttar Pradesh, India – by Surlaroutophile (01/2026)
🐘 Episode 1: Delhi & Uttar Pradesh – Heart of History and Faith 🇮🇳
Our journey begins in Delhi, where past and present collide. In New Delhi, we wander around the soaring Qutub Minar, tracing its intricate carvings. Though filming inside Akshardham was not possible, the temple’s golden spires and reflection pools hint at the devotion and artistry within. We glimpse colonial elegance at The Imperial Hotel, admire the grandeur of India Gate, and step into Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, where the serene water tank mirrors the surrounding white marble.
In Old Delhi, the city’s pulse quickens. The Red Fort remains closed for a private event, and the Jama Masjid is inaccessible during prayer, but the streets of Chandni Chowk and the Fatehpuri Masjid draw us in, alive with rickshaws, spices, and colorful markets. Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib provides a quiet counterpoint, a space of reflection amidst the chaos.
Next, Agra awaits. Within the walls of Agra Fort, history comes alive — massive gates, marble courtyards, and the adjacent Jama Masjid overlooking bustling bazaars. And then, the Taj Mahal, top attraction on our bucket list, bathed in afternoon light, a timeless symbol of love and craftsmanship.
Our journey continues to Fatehpur Sikri, where red sandstone palaces, a soaring minaret, and the vibrant Jama Masjid stand as echoes of a short-lived imperial capital — a city frozen in grandeur, yet alive in detail.
Finally, we arrive in Varanasi, where the Ganges flows like liquid history. At the ghats, life and death intertwine: cremation rituals, pilgrims bathing, priests chanting, and boats drifting slowly along the river. Temples rise above the alleys, and bazaars hum with trade and devotion. A short trip to Sarnath brings another layer of spiritual depth — giant Buddha statues, ancient stupas, and Buddhist temples mark the place where the Buddha first taught.
Delhi and Uttar Pradesh reveal a world where history, faith, and daily life exist side by side — chaotic, vibrant, and endlessly compelling.
Next stop: Rajasthan - deeper into India, where traditions and landscapes continue to shift.
