Srimad Bhagavatam 10.14.8
"My dear Lord, one who earnestly waits for You to bestow Your causeless mercy upon him, all the while patiently suffering the reactions of his past misdeeds and offering You respectful obeisances with his heart, words and body, is surely eligible for liberation, for it has become his rightful claim."

Why is there suffering in this world? Prabhupada said it's because this world is meant for suffering. So if we're trying to be happy in a place which is designed for suffering, it's not going to work.

Sometimes Krishna doesn't remove the suffering of a devotee if suffering the karmic reaction can purify the devotee's desire to do that activity again.

When you cannot control a situation, there's a message behind it. The message is: There is one Supreme Controller of the universe and it's not you!
