Glentress Forest Park & 7 Stanes Mountain Biking Centre, Scottish Borders, Scotland

Hope you enjoy this wee guide to the lovely Glentress Forest Park and 7 Stanes Mountain Biking Centre which is located an hours drive south of Edinburgh between Peebles and Innerleithen, in the beautiful Scottish Borders.

Many people associate Glentress just with mountain biking, but it has some fabulous walking trails with some amazing scenery, wildlife and views of the Tweed Valley. The Osprey & Wildlife Centre is really wonderful. You can see live footage of Osprey nests and learn all about the incredible wildlife that makes the forest its home. The volunteers in the centre are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable so please do drop in and say hi.

There are lots of colour-marked walking trails and mountain-biking trails which you can download a map of from their website. There is a charge for parking and the machines take coins and debit cards, although it would be wise to have some pound coins in case the meter isn't working properly.

The facilities are excellent, with accessible toilets, showers, lockers, a cafe, bike shop and bike wash. You can hire bikes from the bike shops which is great if you don't own one. You can also stay overnight in one of the Forest Lodges.
