A broad overview on the impact of the multi-systemic moralities experienced in hEDS and HSD and their impact on function and quality of life.

Dr. Hakim received his degrees in medical sciences from Cambridge University; and completed training in Internal Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and Rheumatology at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), UK. He received his consultant certification and fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, UK in 2000 and 2005, respectively. He has over 20 years’ experience as a senior researcher, consultant, and clinical director in Medicine and Rheumatology. He currently practices at The Harley Street Clinic, HCA Healthcare and is an honorary consultant in research at UCLH, London. He is an Adjunct Assoc. Prof. in Medicine, School of Medicine, Penn State, USA. Dr. Hakim has co-authored/edited six medical books, contributed many chapters and articles to major textbooks and online resources, and published over 100 papers and reviews. He is the Chief Medical Officer, Education & Research Director, and Lead for EDS ECHO at The Ehlers-Danlos Society. As a member of the International Consortium on the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders, he sits on the consortium Steering Committee and has chaired its Working Group on Hypermobile EDS/HSD since 2018.
