Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution process. It's where a husband and wife who are contemplating getting a divorce will meet with a qualified mediator to draft and come up with an amicable settlement agreement. We encourage our clients who are motivated to settle, to engage in the mediation process. There are many advantages to mediation, one being it's a consensual agreement that's crafted by the parties who know their children, their family, their finances, their assets, their liabilities better than any court will know them.

When it's a consensual agreement, they're more likely to abide by it and stick to it. It puts the husband and the wife and the couple who are divorcing in control of their divorce process. It is not a court-imposed settlement agreement. They're in control of how their divorce will proceed, the time line in which they will proceed, as well as the final agreement.
