You’ve learned to dodge their traps and evolve beyond their reach. This growth has led you closer to your own Finish Line—your own personal victory. What’s remarkable is that this journey of self-discovery was never meant to happen. The narcissist wanted to keep you in a state of confusion and dependency, stripping away your strength and resilience. They never anticipated that you would emerge stronger after all they tried to take from you.
In fact, you likely ended up in a much better place once you decided to leave, or once they finally exited your life for the last time. It’s crucial to recognize that they no longer have the power to dictate the terms of your life. Shame on them for underestimating your ability to gain a different perspective. They believed they were clever, but they were not as smart as they thought. They believed they could break you, but you were never as fragile as they assumed.
They expected you to endure their mistreatment indefinitely, perhaps even to remain silent about the abuse because it had become a part of your routine. However, you have proven them wrong. Whether it was a forceful departure or a painful realization, you found the strength to walk away. You either pushed through the door they opened for you, or you rushed out on your own, driven by a growing intolerance for their constant disrespect.
It can be shocking to uncover the hidden aspects of their lives—the secret accounts, the various online distractions, and the numerous past relationships they cling to. These connections are often not truly “exes,” as the narcissist tends to hold onto anyone who has ever shown them any form of interest. They likely still have contact information stored away, perhaps even in the cloud, and they are perpetually on the hunt for new Supply to fulfill their unending needs. This is why they operate in "thirst mode," always seeking validation and attention from others.
