Bathroom Rebuild: Installing Goboard tile backer board in the shower!

In this video I tackled the shower! I install Goboard, a cement board alternative that is a waterproof combination of polyisocyanurate foam sandwiched in between two fiberglass reinforced outer layers.

Eventually (in a future video) we’ll be putting up a white subway tile in the shower, but for now we need to put up something we can hang it on.

The shower is a bit wonky but even then to get all three walls up and do all the cuts only took me about 5 hours total, which I was really happy with. Technically I could have started tiling same day…but let’s face it, I don’t have it in me. The best thing I can compare it to is hanging drywall…there’s no need to mix any thinset when you’re hanging it which limits cleanup, something I greatly appreciate.

I would definitely use this system again; it was super easy to cut, not messy, and I think it’s going to work out well for my application.
