In one of Hong Kong's busiest districts, underneath a bridge, these Voodoo Ladies are casting curses with just a shoe! No crystal balls or voodoo dolls here! They perform the VILLAIN HITTING ritual to rid your life of bad luck or people (i.e. an ex-lover or mean boss) by beating the crap out of paper demons, or "villains"!👹

Watch as they light incense sticks and pray to their God. Then, they make you write your enemy's name and birthday on a paper and repeatedly slap it with the shoe, chanting powerful spells to curse them away. Some even bring their own shoe for this! (I’d say go with the pointiest heels)

It's all part of the ancient, unique and cherished culture of Hong Kong. Locals LOVE this tradition during a special time of the year to cleanse themselves from the past and embrace positivity in the future. They even have a villain hitting day!

This is why I TRAVEL—to experience crazy, meaningful traditions that are different from my reality. 🌍❤️
