6. SOUNDBITE: (English) Neeraj Singh, UN military observers'' spokesperson:
"In terms of where the team visits, what you see before you are very experienced expert military observers who have a lot of experience in this job. There are various factors they take into consideration in making that determination. That is something that is within their expert prerogative, not something that I would talk about. What is important is that in the course of this mandate that we have at the advance team, all efforts are to equally meet with all the parties, because that is the most important task that this advance team has. So that is exactly what they are doing and you should not try to make any other meaning out of where they are going. They might feel they need to visit a particular area several times, in some areas if they have made their assessment that after one visit they don''t need to immediately revisit - that is their prerogative based on their assessment and expertise. What is important is that the process is ongoing, we are just starting off for another day of field visits and we will keep you informed as the day progresses.
Q: Are there any new members coming?
A: We do expect today also additional military observers to be coming, we already had overnight four new military observers that they have joined. The total strength as of this moment is 15. We expect that to increase during the course of the day but we will keep you informed as and when...."

STORYLINE
Four Chinese UN military observers have arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, joining the 11-strong advance team already on the ground observing the cease-fire and preparing for a total of 300 monitors to arrive later.
The team headed out on another monitoring mission on Wednesday morning, continuing their tour of flashpoints of the conflict.
Team spokesperson Neeraj Singh said the observers would decide where to visit, and re-visit, based on their assessment of the situation.
Despite the presence of observers in Damascus, activists say the U.N.-brokered cease-fire is quickly unravelling.
On Tuesday Syrian troops heavily shelled a suburb of the capital, and satellite imagery shows that Syria has failed to withdraw all of its heavy weapons from populated areas as required by a cease-fire deal.
International envoy Kofi Annan has told the UN Security Council that the situation in Syria is "bleak" and expressed alarm at reports that government troops are still carrying out military operations in towns where UN observers are not present.
