10 years living in Spain torrevieja Costa Blanca alicante .living in spain after brexit ,mistakes made in spains ,tips on living in spain ,moving to spain things you need to know , we moved here in 2015 before Brexit ,my experience mistakes made and lessons learned my perspective on how things have changed 2015, I felt like I had stepped into a dream. The sky stretched endlessly above whitewashed villages, the scent of orange blossoms drifted through the air, and the Mediterranean shimmered under the golden sun. This was it—the life I had imagined.
I left behind the grey skies of England, trading drizzle for sunshine, and stress for siestas. At first, it felt like an extended holiday—lazy mornings sipping café con leche in the town plaza, afternoons at the beach, and warm evenings filled with tapas and wine. I had no plans to return to the UK. Spain felt like home.
Life Before Brexit
Before Brexit, life was simple. Residency was easy, healthcare was accessible, and I moved freely between Spain and the UK without a second thought. I met countless other British expats doing the same—retirees soaking up the sun, remote workers setting up a new life, families enrolling their kids in local schools. We were not "immigrants" in our minds; we were just Brits in Spain, part of a long tradition of sun-seekers.
I bought a quad house near Torrevieja, a nice place put a pool in it made it a modern place with 3 terraces overlooking the sea and the salt lakes .Mornings were spent strolling through the market, practicing my broken Spanish with friendly locals. I never imagined that a political decision thousands of miles away would change everything for people that want to live the dream ,just glad I done it before Brexit and got a good exchange rate ,no turning back. please if you can support me with my expenses and my editing cost and other thing I appreciate that
