Mega Man X MS-DOS Version Game Play

Описание к видео Mega Man X MS-DOS Version Game Play

Recorded on 12/17/11.
Today I was bored and I finally got Hypercam 2 to have sound so I decided to play the MS-DOS Version of Mega Man X on DOSBox v0.74. I am playing the Full Version but I wont tell anyone where I downloaded it from. I probably suck in the video as I had to play w/ the Keyboard and the game was not on Full Screen mode. I do notice a few differences so far from the SNES Version.

Differences I know of are...
-Music sounds a little different and the songs loop from the beginning instead of somewhere in the middle of the song. I don't like the music much on this version but it's alright. The instruments are way off as well as the pitch and speed in some songs. I am using General MIDI, The Sound Blaster/Adlib sucks hard for this game. Ultrasound is awesome but according to DOSBox's emulation.

-Also minor note of music, before the boss fights you always hear the pre-Vile Music rather than the regular pre-boss music. You do only hear that song before Sigma's pet.

-Screen Resolution is at 320x200 instead of 256x224 meaning more room to see ahead of you but on a 4:3 (typical 1990's) Monitor everything looks squished vertically.

-Enemy placement is different in some levels.

-The jumping in water is a bit off.

-I noticed it going faster than the SNES Version while the game was set to Normal Speed. This version has 5 speed settings ranging from slowest to fastest. For more accurate speed choose Slowest speed on most modern computers. The faster speeds are meant for PC's in the early 1990's. The speed doesn't affect actual gameplay much but cutscenes and there is no slowdown when too much sprites appear.

-You can Save!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Replaces Passwords. That means you can't really skip ahead without a code which you can find on the internet. (Not telling you).

-I noticed that after you beat those 2 giant things(Comment if you know what they are) on the intro stage that a health refill comes out from above as they are falling with the ground.

-On some stages those giant mechas that you jump in to walk, fly and either punch with are missing.

-You only have to go through Armored Armadillo's stage once with 4 full Sub-Tanks to get the Hadoken. I also believe that it saves but can't confirm that.

-The springs in the first Sigma stage are missing.

-The ending has the part where X is back at the Highway level skipped

-When you get Game Over it automatically goes to the Stage Select screen.

More differences (courtesy of youtube user warherozer), mostly pertaining to the Sigma stages.

-boss spider (first sigma level) is easy to kill with an upgraded charge (easier than using ice shotgun), while in SNES you can't use this trick.

charged tornado is too powerful in this version. boss of sigma's second level also weak against tornado, while the SNES version is actually weak against boomerang cutter. Also the boss in sigma's third level ( a room with 2 eye and one nose/mouth).

upgraded change buster is very powerful. It can even breakthrough the green guy's shield. (of cause, SNES can't)

Comment If you viewers see any more differences from the SNES.
