Professor N. Sartorius, MD, PhD, FRCPsych was the Founding Director of the Mental Health Program of the World Health Organization. He now serves as President of the Association for the Improvement of Mental Health Programs, a NGO located in Geneva. Professor Sartorius holds several professorial positions in Europe, the USA and elsewhere. He has published more than 500 papers in peer-reviewed journals and authored, co-authored, edited or co-edited more than 120 books. He has been addressed as the "Living Legend of Psychiatry" in Lancet Psychiatry.
As a new initiative to further enrich the academics of the Department of Psychiatry, PGIMER Chandigarh, the Department has started a “Distinguished Speaker Series”. Professor Norman Sartorius is the first speaker of this series and he talks about "The present state & future of psychiatry".
