Further violence has spread across the US as protesters in Portland Oregon tear down statues of former presidents, and a patriot rally attendee shot dead in Denver Colorado.

Protests in Portland turned violent ahead of the Columbus Day holiday with chainsaws being used to tear down statues of former presidents Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

The statues were further defaced with the words “murder” and “stolen land” painted on them.

The ongoing violence is placing heightened pressure on Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler to reinstate peace in the city.

“Everybody understands there’s some possibility for flash points over the next couple weeks as we approach the election,” Mayor Wheeler said.

Meanwhile in Denver Colorado, duelling protests between a patriot rally and a counter-rally resulted in the shooting death of patriot rally attendee.
