Starting things off, we're going to be going with Naruto uzumaki, the ultimate example of a zero to hero story. Originally made an orphan on the night of his birth, Naruto would grow up hated by numerous people inside the village with people not even initially seeing him as Naruto, the troublemaking orphan, but instead they saw him as the nine tail fox itself. A young Naruto would get mass thrown at him in his face, unaware that the villagers were blaming him for the death of his own father. With the villagers made unaware of Naruto's lineage in order to protect him from minato's enemies, in spite of being so hated and lacking for attention, Naruto would quickly become a force to be reckoned with. After becoming a Konaha Shinobi, each mission that he went on, works of his exploits would slowly begin to win over the citizens of Konaha, as shown in the flashback during Naruto chapter 426, where we see the villagers warming up to Naruto and even show concern for his mental well-being after jiraiya passed away. It was a sign that long before he became a hero in the fourth great ninja war where his golden Kurama cloak would serve as a light shining in the darkness of that war. Naruto was doing the one thing that every man or woman who becomes Hokage had to do, which is earn the acknowledgement from the villagers who would one day be the people that he led.
