The composer of this melody is unknown, but the hymn first shows up in the St. Basil Hymnal in 1889. The text is by Edward Caswall and the descant was written in 1968 by Bruce A. Larsen. It was a favorite hymn of Holy Childhood's founding pastor, Fr. John Buchanan. Conducted by Stephen Schmall in May 1995.
