When Rooks Fly Homeward

I would like to dedicate this performance of "Rooks" to Ron Cohen- my choral Papa. Ron passed this piece on to me- as he was given it as well. This performance by the 2009 Freeport HS Select Chorale is from my final year as their conductor, 1978-2009. This video is from our 2009 UK tour that included our visit and performance at Kenilworth Castle. The composer (Arthur Baynon) of "When Rooks Fly Homeward" grew up very close to Kenilworth Castle- near Birmingham, UK. At the end of our performance (on out last phrase) a large bird (rook?) flew overhead. Could it have been the composer- Arthur Baynon- thanking us for continuing to "serve his music?"
