The Science Behind Tying Hise's Hetero-genius Nymph 2.0

I designed the Hetero-genius Nymph in 1991 in preparation for a month and a half long trip to New Zealand. This was before the interweb and cell phones, so we had to do our research by reading bound books or through word of mouth. Whilst doing my pre-trip planning, I noticed the Kiwis utilized copper wire and all the parts of various pheasants into their patterns. This is the result.

The Hetero-genius Nymph has been in the Fulling Mill/Orvis signature tyer line-up since 1997 and has received many 5 star reviews. To date, it is still one of the top selling patterns in my fly shop. Many customers return over and over, day after day, and year after year for another Hetero-genius fix.

They are effective on spring creeks, tailwaters, and freestone streams, hatches, or no hatches.
