Christianity wasn’t always European. For a thousand years, the heartland of Christianity was in the Middle East and Asia. This is their story, and why we have forgotten about them.

If you are interested in further study on this, most history books won’t help. If you don’t have a specialist book, search for Nestorians, or Jacobites (not the Scottish version). But there are a number of good resources that specialize in this topic. I particular enjoyed The Lost History of Christianity by Philip Jenkins (from which most direct numbers in this video were gathered), but Samuel Moffett’s A History of Christianity in Asia is also good.

Pagan Christianity by Frank Viola and George Barna is also an excellent place to start if you want to look at how Christianity has become particularly westernized, as well we Misreading Scripture through Western Eyes by e. Randolph Richards and Brandon J O’Brien.
