In this video I focus on the element of surprise in composition. Unfortunately, it seems to be somewhat of a dying art, at least in commercial music these days. I go through some examples of compositional surprise from other artists, such as the Beatles, and then examine some of Anderson's examples. Not too much music theory involved! I have altered the key of some of these songs to accommodate my vocal range. Also, I label the chords as relative to the capo so the chord shapes are familiar to most intermediate players. Cheers!
