Era Introduction: I’m not sure if any of you are familiar, but there was this movie that came out in 2012 about a bunch of college kids who sang a cappella music. In that time, the world as The Virginia Sil’hooettes knew it would never be the same. This era of the group would release 7 studio albums (Take It to the Bridge, Blackout, Playing With Lightning, 1989, Luster, From the Depths, and Silver Hour) in 10 years, earning them 18 compilation album features and 17 CARA wins. And yes, we had an album titled 1989 before Taylor Swift did. We’re pursuing legal action. In 2012, USA Today named them one of the Top 5 Collegiate A Cappella groups in the country. In 2013, HerCampus named them the #1 Female Collegiate A Cappella group in the country. In 2016, CollegeMagazine named the Virginia Sil'hooettes the #1 "Female Group Running the A Cappella World". They would perform at the White House, not once, but two times. Ben Folds heard them when they opened for his show; Madeleine Albright heard them when they performed at her UVA Reception, and you are about to hear them sing their hit song “Wings”. Please welcome The Virginia Sil’hooettes classes of 2008 - 2018!
