Gather Materials:

Old clothes (t-shirts, jeans, or any fabric you'd like to repurpose)
Scissors
Non-slip rug pad or rubber mat (to provide stability)
Prepare the Fabric Strips:

Lay out your old clothes and determine the colors and patterns you want to incorporate into your doormat.
Cut the fabric into long strips, approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide. The length of the strips can vary depending on how long you want them to be.
Create the Base:

Take your non-slip rug pad or rubber mat and measure the desired size for your doormat. Use scissors to trim it accordingly.
Start Braiding:

Choose three fabric strips of different colors/patterns and tie them together at one end.
Begin braiding the strips together, crossing the outer strips over the middle strip.
As you braid, make sure to pull the fabric tightly for a secure and neat finish.
When you reach the end of a strip, tie another strip to it and continue braiding. Repeat this process until you have a long braided strip.
Coil the Braided Strip:

Take the braided strip and start coiling it tightly, using a sewing needle and thread to secure the coil as you go. Stitch through the layers of fabric to hold them in place.
Continue coiling and stitching until you reach the end of the strip.
Add New Braided Strips:

When you reach the end of a braided strip, attach a new strip by sewing it securely to the end of the previous strip.
Continue coiling and stitching with the new strip, repeating this process until you've covered the entire base.
Finish the Edges:

Once you've covered the entire base and coiled all the fabric strips, stitch the end of the final strip securely to the doormat.
Trim any excess fabric if needed, ensuring a clean and even edge.
Optional: Embellish and Personalize:

If desired, you can add additional decorative elements to your doormat, such as fabric flowers, buttons, or embroidery. Use your creativity to make it unique!
Clean and Place:

Give your newly created doormat a gentle clean by shaking off any loose threads or fabric.
Find a suitable spot at your entryway, lay down your upcycled doormat, and enjoy your eco-friendly, handmade creation!
Remember to share your DIY doormat creation on social media using the provided hashtags to inspire others to upcycle and get creative with old clothes. Happy crafting!
