As the announcement of the matric results for the 2021 class looms, the debate about the state of South Africa’s Education system continues.
There are calls for the doing away of the 30% pass mark for some subjects, the changing of the curriculum to make it more Afrocentric and concerns raised by an international survey, which found that three quarters of children aged nine cannot read for meaning. We ask the question, does South Africa’s education system need a complete overhaul? To talk to me about this, I'm joined by NAPTOSA Executive Director Basil Manuel, ONE SA Movement Leader, Mmusi Maimane, COSAS Secretary General, Tebogo Magafane, and UNISA Lecturer in the Department of Development Studies, Dr Richard Lehasa Molo.
