The Ruislip Lido Miniature Railway

The Ruislip Miniature Railway is a 12-inch narrow gauge railway that lies in the leafy woodlands at Ruislip Lido where the track skirts the Lido Lake. The Railway is apparently the UK's longest 12 -inch gauge railway and is manned by a team of local friendly enthusiastic volunteers.

Last Sunday I just barely managed to get to the Lido just in time for one of the final rides that day.
I did visit the Lido and Railway earlier this Summer when the Lido beaches were packed out. But on this late September visit the normally crowded golden sands looked dampened by the Autumn air.

Our train stops briefly at 4:20 so as to allow a returning train pass us for a section of single track.
I also recently visited The Lido Railway earlier this month when they put on one of their Open Days when several of the train engines were out on display including the very popular steam engine and everybody's favourite locomotive, Mad Bess.

Their next Special Day will be on Sunday 1st of December for their Seasonal Santa Special rides.
