Born in 1957 at Sankaria village, Bankura district, West Bengal, Parimal Hembram, also known by his pen name Marshal Hembram, is a pioneer of Santali language and literature.
From being a school teacher and All India Radio program executive to becoming the President of Santali Sahitya Parishad, his journey reflects the voice and vision of Adivasi identity and intellectual empowerment.
📚 Through his notable works such as Saontali Sahityer Itihas (2007), Jharkhander Sankshipto Itihas (2001), Aakaal (1988), Manowa-ho-Manowa (1996), and Saontal Lok Katha (2002) — Hembram has preserved the oral traditions, poetry, and heritage of the Santhal community.
🎭 Beyond writing, he is also a performing artist, researcher, and translator, known for Santali and Bengali poetry recitation, folk drama performances, and radio plays.
🏆 His remarkable contributions have earned him several prestigious awards such as the Tetre Award, Gunijan Award, Sadhu Ramchand Murmu Award, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Durgapur Diocese.
