Is it possible we have discovered a science to replace philosophy and can finally make real progress?

A favourite debate from 2014: From the existence of the self to the nature of free will, many philosophers have dedicated their lives to the problems of the mind. But now some neuroscientists claim to have settled these raging debates.

Margaret Boden: A Professor of Cognitive Science at "the forefront of efforts to exorcise Cartesian superstition" (New York Times), Margaret Boden's books include Mind as Machine and The Creative Mind.

Steven Rose: Emeritus professor of Neurobiology at Open University and author of The Making of Memory, Steven Rose was in 2012 awarded the BNA lifetime award for outstanding contributions to neuroscience.

Barry C. Smith: Director of the Institute of Philosophy at the School of Advanced Study. His interests encompass the philosophy of wine, language and self knowledge.
