Security has been significantly heightened across Tripura's border district Khowai, ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, with police launching intensive surveillance and search operations to prevent any untoward incident.

As part of the enhanced security measures, the Khowai district police on Thursday evening carried out a special checking drive on the national highway at Dhalbil, a key entry point to the district.
