My connection with the LA2A optical Compressor goes back to 2005 when studying the EHX "BlackFinger" tube Compressor design ... at first replacing tubes stage by op-amps, later discrete SE circuitry - always with opto's ... every version sounded good and had the same great feel ... eventually finding two more ways of pairing things down - to the point of utter simplicity ... it's got all the specs anybody needs // low noise, low-distortion, flat bandwidth (no coloration), high headroom, and above all proper optical ATTACK and RELEASE timing ... thanks to Eric Reed for getting into it :)
