Rehousing Psalmopoeus Victori Tarantula (Darth Maul) | Mexican Half and Half Tarantula

In this video, I take you through the rehousing process of my Psalmopoeus Victori, also known as the Mexican Half and Half or the Darth Maul tarantula. What I didn’t realize at first was that she was in extreme premolt at the time, which made this rehousing a bit tricky (and not ideal).

Though she had taken a meal the day before and didn’t show any signs of being in premolt until I had a clear view of her, her sluggish behavior made her surprisingly easy to handle. However, I do not recommend rehousing a tarantula during premolt due to the unnecessary stress it can cause. Premolt is a delicate time for tarantulas, and moving them while they’re preparing to molt can have negative effects on their well-being.
