While the Nexus 6 may be the biggest flagship smartphone to ever be released, it's not much larger than some of the other popular phablet smartphones. For example, the iPhone 6 Plus is just 1mm smaller in terms of vertical height. And the OnePlus One is about 6mm smaller in terms of vertical height. Some people may think the Nexus 6 is way too big but in a year or two 6" devices may the norm.
