ICJ Orders Israel to "Immediately" Halt its Military Operation in Rafah | Vantage with Palki Sharma

The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to immediately halt its military operations in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. The UN top court has also asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to open the Rafah border crossing for humanitarian aid. While Israel is unlikely to comply with the order, the ruling will add to mounting global pressure on Israel over its Rafah offensive. Israel is facing heavy criticism from the global community for its conduct in the Gaza war, which also includes backlash from one of its closest allies, the US. Israeli PM Netanyahu is also under pressure at home to end the war as thousands of Israelis hold demonstrations calling on the government to reach a hostage deal with Hamas.
