In a city called Guna, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India, there were five friends who used to live there. All five friends lived close to each other and were very happy together. Although some of them were rich and some were poor, their friendship remained strong. Before I go any further, let me tell you that Madhya Pradesh is a large state in central India, known for its many museums, national parks, beautiful mosques, and the most famous Buddhist monument, the Sanchi Stupa. But on the night of May 18, 2017, one of these five friends, named Hemant Meena, took 40 thousand Indian Rupees about 480 US dollars from his father to buy a second-hand bike.

Hemant’s father, Antar Singh Meena, was an office superintendent in the Irrigation Department. Hemant had been repeatedly asking his father for a bike, but since Hemant was still a minor, his father was hesitant to get him one at such a young age.
