"My vampire, vampire hunter, Cecily Slayer. Born in 1477, she was adopted by a vampire family at a young age. The Slayer family is a clan of vampires who are Vampire Hunters. Back in the Olde Days, they made an agreement with the Blood Hunters to permit them to exist and thrive so long as they continue to hunt vampires and other monsters and follow a list of rules, including establishing consent before feeding and getting clearance before turning new vampires. Well, at 14 Cecily got the plague and got turned in a panic. Her parents have been sheltering her and hiding her from the Blood Hunters since then to protect her, but her two eldest siblings helped train her to be a monster hunter. When she goes off on her own, she often has to lie about being a Small race and an adult to prevent getting patronized. It is incredibly lonely being eternally young, unable to grow or age. And history was destined to repeat itself, as she accidentally turned a friend of her's, Maeve, when she was stabbed and dying. In her pursuit to correct her wrong, to try to adopt Maeve into the family or take care of her, she finds someone precisely like her. An eternally 16, undead Blood Hunter who is also centuries old. Due to reputation, they respect each other at first but soon find themselves falling in love with one another, but too embarrassed or unaware to admit it. Cecily finds herself feeling warm and her long dead heart starts beating whereas Clay knows how he feels but shoves it down, deep deep down, to prevent himself from getting attached. After all, why would a noble Lady like Cecily love a lowly Hunter like himself? The two find themselves in a dance of awkward teen love while each searching for their own people in a dangerous dungeon crawl, a bit of hope and light in the deep grueling darkness of a dungeon."
